A midwest barn and bonfire bonanza.
I love shooting weddings for strangers and sharing their day through my point of view, but there's something so special about capturing my friends on their big day.
Clayton and Catherine met in Spanish class in college and hit it off after accompanying each other on an extra-credit field trip (even though she already had an A+ in the class). I met Clayton a few years ago through mutual friends and realized we both have a joint love for street style photography, which technically makes us besties. If you're ever at a DIY show in Chicago–we're probably both there snapping away.
ANYWAYS, back to the happy couple. I was lucky to shoot their engagement and wedding photos. The ceremony was at their woodsy family home in Minnesota. We took their first look photos in Franconia, a super eccentric sculpture park. The views were so airy and light, matching Catie's dress perfectly.
The reception was hosted in the backyard with exclusively vegan eats–even the cake was vegan and made by MayaOBakes (who is also a great friend of mine)! At the end of the night, the guests started a massive bonfire that was then accompanied by fireworks.
Truly a night to remember!
